Chapbooks

Chapbooks were small, inexpensive, literary publications dating back from the eighteenth century that contained poems, songs and stories. Printers in England sold their chapbooks to “chapmen” who in turn sold to consumers. The name “chap” comes from the old English for trade.

Chapbooks are now being revived, thanks to computer technology, as an affordable medium for poets who wish to preserve their printed craft.

Dream Publishing is happy to offer the opportunity to poets to have their work in print at a very affordable rate. We use quality cardstock covers that can withstand several readings and will still be attractive on your coffee table.

Dream Publishing is offering ten book- cover styles to poets from which to choose. Fonts and color choices are interchangeable by request. At this time we are not accepting your individual artwork for cover design. However, this will be considered as a future publishing option.

Dream Publishing does not undertake the responsibility to edit your work. Please have your work edited before submitting for publication.

Chapbooks are a trim size of 5.5 x 8.5, saddle stapled with a four-color exterior design, and black & white only interior. However, there is an additional charge of $5 per scanned color artwork/photo provided by the author at the time of submission for use between chapters.

Chapbooks come with a Copyright Page, Title Page, and Table of Contents. Also Acknowledgments or Dedications if you wish. An Author’s Page will also be included with or without a picture. All these are included in the page count, some of which you have to provide the information for separately.

All files should be saved as .doc or rich text MS Word files on floppies or CDs. Only PC compatible files at this time will be accepted. Sorry, no Macintosh.

Upon completion a proof of your chapbook will be mailed to you for review and corrections, which are free up to ten. There will be a charge of .50 (fifty cents) for each change thereafter.
